We will start our day trip through the Land of Maramures from Baia Mare, Sighetu Marmatiei or other places upon request. The itinerary includes two Unesco Wooden Churches, dated from the 17th and 18th century, amazing examples of the wooden vernacular architecture and naive art of Maramures.

The Merry Cemetery from Sapanta is a must see if you visit this beautiful region, as it is one of the most peculiar burial grounds in the world. It is a synthesis of the local wood craftmanship, humour and ancient believes.

The Memorial of the Victims of Communism and Resistence from Sighetu Marmatiei is a place dedicated to the rememberance and reconstruction of the communist past. The Memorial is simultaneously a museum, a research institute and a place of education.

Barsana Monastery is one of the most impressive religious sites in Romania, nestled in a serene, picturesque scenery.

We will also visit a local wool processing workshop with water powered traditional installations and a local distilery where we will taste the local spirit, a fruity double distilled brandy, called palinca.

To complete the local experience, I would also suggest to try a tasty, organic, home cooked lunch at a traditional guesthouse.
