There are two main type of tours: tailor-made and private tours.

A tailor-made tour is a unique experience designed to suit your own personal requirements, from A to Z. I am are here to guide you and help you in choosing your itinerary, style of accommodation, mode of transport, things you want to do and see and those special touches you want to add to make your trip perfect.

A private tour is a predesigned program, including an itinerary and most of the services. Each tour is slightly different, so on the tour info it`s specified exactly what's included. This way you know exactly what you are getting. This kind of tour is run exclusively for you, your own family or friends, with no other strangers. You may choose an ideal pre-made private tour from the website (www.journeytotransylvania.com/tours). Alternatively, this kind of tours can be customized in line with your specific wishes.

No, the private tours start whenever you decide, according to the time you have and my availability. If I am booked at the date requested, I will be happy to help you book another local guide.

Most tours begin in Maramures (Baia Mare, Sighetu Marmatiei, Breb) or Cluj-Napoca, but there can be also other arrival locations like Satu Mare, Sibiu, Targu Mures, Timisoara or even Bucharest and Budapest if there is a specific inquiry. Upon request I can arrange transfers between different locations.

I use my personal car for groups of 1-3 pax. For groups larger than 3 pax I rent mini-vans or minibuses with or without driver. All the vehicles have valid insurance policy and MOT, a high level of comfort, safety and are air conditioned. The guests are free to choose any other way of transportation, such as public transportation, own car or rented cars. In this case the price of the tour will be recalculated, or the transportation costs will be supported by the guests.

Journey to Transylvania is an independent tour guiding service provider, so my services do not include accommodation and meals. These can be arranged upon request through my partners who offer a vast range of options to suit every budget and travel style. Together we aim to pick accommodation and dining places that enhances the overall experience and best reflects the character of the place you visit. All this properties are hand-picked and have a proven quality, comfort and value.

Karin is an experienced, passionate, english speaking, professional and fully licensed tourist guide. She will escort you on the tours and most of the times she will also be your driver. She can skillfully show you the highlights in a different light and skipping the line, but also introduce you to places less known and experiences that others might miss. You'll have the chance to discover the real soul of this amazing region.

I deliberately keep the group sizes small, and are ideally suited to groups of 1 to 8 people. In this way you have more flexibility, more time on the back-roads, a well-balanced, intimate experience, with personal attention from the guide and time to explore on your own. And creates less of an environmental impact and leaves less of a footprint.

A minimum age to travel is 18 years, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no maximum age if the health conditions and mobility are proven to be satisfying.

Yes. It is mandatory that all travelers booked must have travel insurance, whilst travelling with Journey to Transylvania. Its part of the booking conditions. For me, your safety always come first.

1. Get in touch

You are most welcomed to contact me via email, telephone/whatsapp or through my social media accounts and directly address your enquiry. After your acceptance of the terms and a preliminary tour design, you will recieve a quote via email. You can refine your plan if you think it is necessary. I like to sit down and really fine-tune your itinerary so that the final result is exactly how you want it.

Additionally, if one of the listed tours suits you perfectly, you can book the specific tour directly from the website at the „Check availability” section.

2. Give the OK

Once you’re happy with the plan, we require a writen confirmation and in some cases a deposit of 25%. Upon receiving this, we will confirm all reservations included in your itinerary.

3. Recieve the final documents

You will receive your travel documents via email, which will contain a detailed day-by-day itinerary of your upcoming trip. Besides this, you will also find a guide with all sorts of additional and useful information, and an overview of the country/region.

The price includes all services specified in the info tab of each private tour from the website or in the e-mailed itinerary proposition (for tailor-made tours). Extra costs such as meals, accommodation or other services that are not included in the descriptions will be charged separately by the third parties.

I usually do not ask for deposits and the tours can be payed upon arrival, but sometimes in order to complete your booking, you may be asked to make a bank transfer for a deposit in Euro currency.

Unfortunately not. Due to the variety of terrain covered on this tours, for now it is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility.
