My name is Karin and I am the founder, dreamer and alchemist of Journey to Transylvania. I am running private day tours and extended tours in Maramures and Transylvania under the name "Journey to Transylvania" since 2013. I am your fully licensed, english speaking private tour guide, travel designer and photographer, storyteller and dedicated environmentalist.

I was born and raised in the amazing region of Maramures (Transylvania), at the feet of the Eastern Carpathians. I still live there, in the picturesque town of Baia Mare. Having extensively travelled around Europe, I discovered so many amazing places, but I always yearned for my homeland, for its tranquility and naturalness. I love this land, and I am definitely hooked to it, always finding it beautiful, surprisingly complex and unique. My friends know me as a person with many emotions, plans and ideas. I love life, geography, history, photography, art and nature, good talks, and everything that is simple and beautiful. I am very interested in learning how life can be lived in a truly, meaningful way.

I graduated Geography Faculty at Babes-Bolyai University from Cluj-Napoca where I`ve earned also my MSc. in Earth Science. Before I founded Journey to Transylvania and ran it as a self-employed, I volunteered for many years in environmental NGOs.

I will be your guide and our journey will be a fascinating and enriching experience. We will explore local life, history, people and local culture through a creative and authentic approach to travel. You can stop being a tourist and become a guest and a friend.
